On April 15, 1865, US President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a bullet fired by John Wilkes Booth at the Nord Theater in Washington, where he and his wife were watching a theatrical performance.

John Wilkes Booth (May 10, 1838 - April 26, 1865) was a famous theater actor who assassinated US President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater, in Washington, D.C., on April 15, 1865.
The main reason for the assassination was that Wilkes was one of the sympathizers with the cause of the independence of the southern states from the north during the American Civil War.


Although Booth, after he managed to assassinate President Lincoln, tried to escape, but he was pursued by the federal authorities, and he was arrested and killed only 12 days after the crime, as he was trapped by military men in a tobacco field near Washington, DC.
