Meet Emile Zola, the legend of French literature
On this day, April 2, 1840, the famous French writer and novelist Émile Zola was born. He is one of the brightest stars that shone in the sky of world literature in the nineteenth century, and is considered the pioneer of the natural doctrine of literature in France. He struggled to spread his ideas about the necessity of the novel’s need to rely on scientific thinking and an accurate description of society, as he was enthusiastic about social reform.. “Zola” was of mixed lineage, his grandmother was Greek, and his mother was French, and his Italian father died early, so his mother raised him. Zola was not an outstanding student, as he directed all his attention to literature, poetry and theatre, thus obtaining a sporadic education. Then he started writing fiction. He lived in Paris where he wrote most of his novels. In 1898 he published an article in the Paris newspaper L'Aurore entitled "J'accuse", in sympathy with the famous "Dreyfus" case.
