What we do not know about the harms of aspirin and the dangers of taking it

Millions of people, including a large number of "healthy people", take a daily pill of aspirin, believing that it will keep them healthy.

On the other hand, there is a group of senior British doctors and scientists who have discovered that taking aspirin against the background of this popular belief does not necessarily reduce the risk of a heart attack. They even found that this doubles the likelihood of hospitalization due to internal bleeding.

And the results of the study, published by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, indicated that the risks of taking an aspirin pill for healthy people outweigh its benefits. Doctors stressed that patients who are already suffering from heart attacks should stop taking the drug.

Instead, the study suggested incorporating aspirin into a “multi-use pill” with an anti-cholesterol and blood pressure drug that those over fifty could take every day.

Experts said that a large number of obsessive people take aspirin just as a precaution, on the grounds that the presence of this drug on hand during this period of time makes it completely safe.

The results of another study conducted in Scotland and presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Barcelona corroborate the growing evidence that the risks of this practice outweigh the benefits for healthy people.

In a previous study this year, Oxford scientists discovered that although the chances of heart attacks in patients who did not suffer a single attack could be reduced by a fifth, the chance of stomach bleeding increased by a third.
