What is Morton's neuroma? Causes, symptoms, and prevention methods
Morton's neuroma is a painful condition that affects the bottom of the foot and usually affects the area between the third and fourth toes. Morton's neuroma results from thickening of the tissue around one of the nerves leading to the toes. This may cause sharp and burning pain in the soles of the feet
What are the causes of Morton's neuroma?
- High heel shoes.
- Some sports such as snowboarding or rock climbing.
- Some work that causes pressure on the toes for a long time.
- Foot deformities such as high arches or flat feet
What are the symptoms of Morton's neuroma?
Feeling as if you are standing on a pebble inside your shoe
Burning pain at the bottom of your foot that may extend to the toes
Weakness or numbness in the toes
How to prevent Norton neuroma:
Take anti-inflammatory drugs
Change your shoes Avoid high heels or tight shoes
If you play sports, get some rest
Using a support piece inside the shoe to support the metatarsal arch
