Meghan Markle loses her lawsuit against British newspapers

The High Court in London on Friday dropped part of a lawsuit brought by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, against the popular newspaper, the Mail on Sunday, for allegedly violating the privacy of a member of the British royal family..

The Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the newspaper had not acted in breach of trust, and Judge Mark Warby, in his ruling, said he supported "dropping all three charges" against Markle against the Mail on Sunday.

Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, is suing the Associated Newspapers after publishing articles in its newspaper, the Mail on Sunday, in February last year, including extracts from a letter the Duchess of Sussex had sent to her father, Thomas Markle, concerning a dispute. between them.

Markle's lawyers say the publication of the letter, which she wrote in August 2018, constitutes an abuse of personal information and a violation of her proprietary rights, and they demand compensation.

At its hearing last week, the newspaper's defense team said the Mail on Sunday charge of dishonesty, causing a family feud and carrying out a scheme targeting the Duchess of Sussex by publishing derogatory and false stories should be dropped.

Prince Harry and his wife announced last week that they "will not have any kind of dealings" with 4 of the largest British tabloids, including the "Daily Mail", accusing them of providing false and offensive coverage.
