Can you modify your brain memory?

A new study has given hope to elderly people who may suffer from memory loss, especially in old age, through an innovative method that has been reached.

The study found that the so-called “peripheral networks (PNNs) in the brain can be modified by chemicals, which will positively affect the memory issue, according to what was published by New Atlas, citing the journal Molecular Psychiatry.

The study showed that chondroitin sulfate 6 and 4 can either enhance or inhibit the function of perineural networks.

She also noted that advancing age alters the balance between these two chemicals, and the researchers believe this mechanism plays a role in how the PNN affects age-related memory decline.

To explore the validity of this hypothesis, the researchers manipulated chondroitin sulfate formation in old mice, in which chondroitin sulfate-6 levels were restored in the PNN.

The results revealed that it was possible to overcome the memory loss experienced by the older mice and restore memory to levels enjoyed by the younger mice.

remarqable improvement

Jessica Cook, a researcher from the University of Leeds who participated in the study, explained that the results were noticeable when treating elderly mice with this method.

She also showed that the old mice's memory and learning ability were restored to levels they hadn't seen since they were much younger.

James Fossett, from the University of Cambridge, said a more focused treatment targeting chondroitin-6 sulfate in humans could be effective for preventing age-related memory loss.

On the other hand, the researchers emphasized that it is still too early to judge the effectiveness of the treatment, as these new results have been proven only in animal models at this stage.
