An application that you can see modified photos on Photoshop

You can now fake photos modified with Photoshop, as we all know that many celebrities around the world adopt photo editing or the so-called “Photoshop”, and this technique has become an obsession for many of them, until most of the images circulated on famous applications such as Instagram have become “fake”, It does not resemble the truth, as the facial features in the “selfie” are more like drawings, as the nose, chin and lips are all modified, according to what the artist wishes or the celebrity wishes.

While there are many programs that work to modify images, there are also applications that reveal their falsity, including the Mirage application, which can tell you whether the owner of the image modified it or made “Photoshop” to make it more attractive, and the application is not only satisfied with this, but it can Telling you if the person has changed the size of their nose, or the color of their eyes.

Mirage uses machine learning technology that can detect when an image has been modified and tries to identify those adjustments, and then you'll get a glimpse of the adjustments made to the original image, for better or worse.

The technology is based on code developed by researchers from Adobe Research and UC Berkeley, who published a research paper in 2019 describing methods for detecting facial manipulation in portraits.

The app was so successful at detecting manipulations in selfies that it even outperformed people who were asked to sift through photos for signs of manipulation.

In addition, Mirage not only determines when an image has changed, but it can also use machine learning to figure out how images have changed. It can predict which areas have been modified and then attempts to reverse those changes one by one.

Once the scans are completed and the edits are selected, the application can then show the sections that have been modified in the profile picture, as well as draw an approximate picture of the state of the original profile picture before making the adjustments to it.

However, the app has one major drawback, it only works when it detects a person's face in the photo, you can't use it to see the edits made in photos that contain things like: a car, a tree, or anything else inside the photo.

The application is available for iPhone and iPad users in the App Store, and for Android users in Google Play.
