Some people tend to drink water while eating, but there are some foods that can become harmful when consumed with water. There are a few combinations, which can lead to indigestion and discomfort. The Times of India newspaper published a list of five foods that should not be consumed with water, as follows:

1. Banana

Bananas contain a large amount of soluble fiber, so eating them with plenty of water can dilute the gastric juices in the stomach, which can ultimately slow down the digestion process. Experts advise eating bananas alone or with foods that complement their texture and flavor.

2. Citrus

Citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, and lemons are already juicy and contain a lot of water. Consuming citrus fruits with excess water leads to stomach discomfort or a feeling of fullness. It is best to enjoy it in moderation and wait a little before drinking water.

3. Yogurt

Yogurt contains probiotics, and yogurt is known as one of the dairy products beneficial for intestinal health. Drinking water immediately after eating yogurt can flush out the probiotic and reduce its effectiveness. If a person wants to drink something with yogurt, they can just sip it with water or choose flavored yogurt that has already been diluted with liquid.

4. Spicy foods

Spicy foods, such as chili peppers or hot sauces, can cause discomfort when combined with large amounts of water. Water spreads heat and makes the burning sensation worse. Dairy products such as milk or yogurt are better options to cool the mouth when eating spicy foods

5. rice

Drinking large amounts of water with rice can dilute the stomach acids needed for proper digestion. While it is fine to drink a glass of water before or after eating rice, experts advise avoiding drinking too much while eating a meal that includes rice. You should allow some time for the rice to digest before drinking more water.
