How did Dubai celebrate the New Year?

Dubai's 2018 New Year celebrations dazzled the world with a laser show to music in front of the Burj Khalifa instead of a fireworks display, as tens of thousands gathered near the world's tallest building to enjoy the show.

Ahmed Thani Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Real Estate Group, revealed during a press conference that a number of side events will be launched in the Burj Khalifa area, starting at five in the evening, UAE time (13:00 GMT).
