It is not only harmful to the blood, but also an enemy to the skin

We know that too much sugar damages our teeth and is bad for our brain. But did you know that this sweet white substance is one of the main enemies of our skin?

Sugar launches a silent and dangerous attack on our skin known as the natural phenomenon of “glycation”, which results from our excessive consumption of sugar, which causes slow but steady damage to our cells and blood vessels, which leads to an acceleration of the aging mechanism of tissues. Discover the following effects on the youth and health of the skin:

What is “intoxication”?

“Saccharification” is defined as a chemical reaction resulting from the attachment of sugars to proteins, which normally swim in the water that makes up 70% of our body. When these proteins are exposed to sugar, they harden and it becomes impossible to destroy them or expel them from the cells in which they have accumulated. As for measuring the level of “sugar” is done through a blood analysis that measures the level of saccharified hemoglobin.

The glycoproteins cause the walls of blood vessels to harden, preventing enough nutrients from getting into the blood. At the level of the dermis, collagen and elastin fibers gradually gather together and harden, losing their softness and even tearing, causing loss of skin firmness and the appearance of wrinkles.

Another collateral damage that can be seen at the level of the dermis is the production of free radicals by the sugary, tangled fibers that attack neighboring cells. They lose their ability to produce youth-boosting molecules like collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and laminin. As for the skin level, the imbalance appears through the loss of the keratinocytes’ ability to regenerate properly, which leads to the loss of the skin’s suppleness and radiance, and increases its dryness.

Our diet is the answer

Adopting useful eating habits helps to influence the phenomenon of “intoxication.” Experts in this field recommend avoiding highly grilled foods such as meat, chicken, bread, and caramelized sweets. They recommend focusing on eating steamed foods, and stress the preference for eating sweets immediately after lunch instead of consuming them alone in the afternoon to avoid a rise in insulin levels.

As for the excessive consumption of fast food, experts advise adopting a diet that separates protein and carbohydrates in one meal, so that a meal of protein and vegetables is consumed, followed by a meal of carbohydrates and vegetables. All while focusing on eating foods rich in antioxidants such as green tea, red berries, pomegranate, turmeric, and ginger. It is also recommended to take nutrients that prevent damage to skin fibers and delay the appearance of wrinkles, most notably nutritional supplements that contain collagen, hyaluronic acid, and reservatrol.

Plants that fight the phenomenon of “intoxication”

A new study, in which researchers from Japan and the United States participated, showed that plants play a major role in combating the phenomenon of “intoxication”, most notably those rich in flavonoids (grapes, mate, cocoa, reservatrol, red vine, and even some types of algae…). Also, many tropical plants that fight an aggressive environment have the ability to neutralize the “intoxication” effect.

It is possible that many of these elements are available in the diet, and they are used abundantly in the manufacture of cosmetic products that bear the signature of the most famous cosmetic laboratories, after confirming their effect in combating the phenomenon of “glycation” and thus premature aging of the skin.
