Putin's car from the inside ... solidity and luxury!

It must be different, as luxurious as the gold that covered the walls of the Kremlin, as solid as its walls of steel. Russia announced a new luxury car at the Moscow Motor Show, and displayed a homemade limousine driven by President Vladimir Putin during his inauguration ceremony broadcast on television stations.

The four-seater Urus Senat was presented to reporters as the latest addition to the Russian-made Cortage lineup that Putin is sponsoring. The collection is expected to include a minivan, an off-road vehicle and a motorcycle.

The limousine, which also bears the Urus brand, first appeared in May when Putin used it instead of his Mercedes during his inauguration for a new presidential term to send a patriotic message about Russian self-sufficiency.

Russia is seeking to reduce its dependence on imported goods and technology, a trend that has gained momentum since Western sanctions were imposed on Moscow.

The Urus series is produced by the Russian Research Institute (NAMI) in partnership with the Russian automaker Sollers.

Industry Minister Denis Manturov, who participated in the unveiling of the new car on Wednesday, said that contracts for commercial orders for Urus cars will be signed next month, the RIA news agency reported.

He added that 120 Uruss will be produced next year and that the off-road vehicles are expected to enter the production line by the beginning of 2010.

The new limousine will replace the Russian ZIL sedans, which for decades were the official car of Soviet leaders
