The Department of Health Abu Dhabi receives the classification of the “Outstanding Institution” within the Golden Initiative Awards presented by the Federation of Arab Hospitals

The Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the regulatory body for the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, won the Golden Initiative Award for the Distinguished Institution category for its efforts in addressing the Covid- pandemic.19 Provided by the Federation of Arab Hospitals.

The Federation launched the award with the aim of highlighting the outstanding efforts made by health institutions in the Arab world to manage the Covid pandemic19 And move towards overcoming it and maintaining the health and safety of the community. 

The Federation of Arab Hospitals praised the distinguished approach taken by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi to address and overcome the pandemic, as it provided a pioneering model in the region thanks to the dedication of its team and its continuous efforts to ensure the provision of health care services of outstanding quality.

The department achieved the highest “distinguished” level in the eight categories of the award, which include: the organizational aspect of the government staff, especially in directing, organizing and managing the work of health teams in a thoughtful manner and ensuring integration of performance, good governance and leadership, community participation, planning, management and tight distribution of the vaccination process, control over Infection, training and education, support and protection of workers, building post-Covid-19 services, and innovative technology.

In this regard, His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, said: “The excellence of Abu Dhabi’s experience in responding to the Covid pandemic-19 Receiving prestigious international awards in light of the exceptional health challenges the world is witnessing is the fruits of the wise leadership’s directives and the efforts of the staff and all partners, which put the health and well-being of all members of society on the list of priorities. Honoring the Department of Health Abu Dhabi by the Federation of Arab Hospitals is a new achievement added to the record of accomplishments achieved by the Department since the beginning of the pandemic, which is a motive for us to continue efforts to establish Abu Dhabi’s position as a pioneering and exceptional model in the world in facing the pandemic and its consequences.”

His Excellency added: “Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have worked with all partners side by side to preserve the health and safety of society by focusing on a number of key response elements, including continuous coordination between all concerned parties locally and globally, investing in enhancing the competencies and expertise of workers in the sector and enriching investigation efforts. The ongoing epidemic, in addition to moving forward with vaccination plans and managing it, so that the UAE will be one of the first countries to provide vaccination and distribute it among its residents. The emirate’s pioneering infrastructure and outstanding health readiness played a major role in enabling the healthcare system to present this pioneering model.”

It is worth noting that the success of the Golden Initiative in its first edition contributed to the initiative gaining the respect and credibility of health organizations and institutions such as the World Health Organization, the Middle East and North Africa Health Policy Forum, the University of Washington, Arab health unions and others.
