The prestigious house of Will appoints a new chief designer with a new direction

Weill, the emblematic French fashion house, is taking a new direction with the appointment of Mathilde Castillo Branco as Head of its Design Studio.
Mathilde Castelo Branco is a Brazilian fashion designer who studied fashion design in Paris before launching her career at the Hermès ready-to-wear studio under the auspices of Martin Margiela. After that, she spent ten years with Lanvin working with Albert Albaz before becoming responsible for the artistic creativity of the Azzaro brand.

With a sense of deep concern for the Weill family's heritage and the richness of its history and knowledge, Mathilde Castelo Branco promises new inspirations to the House's ready-to-wear collections and a touch of sophistication to its icons. Her signature is highly feminine and subtle fashion with a clever and ingenious ability to break with tradition. “I like to surprise: unexpected details, original re-inventions in the design of the garment, surprising and innovative blends that give character to the figure,” says the designer. It is all masterfully accomplished: “I defend the idea of a style that shakes up tradition without disrupting it.”

Founded in Paris in 1892, Weill has always embodied a certain vision of French elegance. Mathilde Castillo Branco sees in Weill's client the ideal of a modern Parisian woman, the kind of inspiration we can find on the banks of the Seine or in the cafés of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, which distinguishes themselves with something stunningly charming. We don't know it, a subtle mixture of sophistication and informality that is typically French.
