Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurates Dubai Design Week

 Today, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the activities of the third edition of Dubai Design Week.

The third edition of Dubai Design Week returns with a larger and more diverse program than before to enhance Dubai’s position as a global forum for designs and creative industries. For free, this edition features the return of the recent alumni exhibition, the Downtown Design program, and the popular Abwab exhibition, in addition to a rich collection of talks, dialogues, discussion sessions, works, monuments and unique artistic installations.

The week’s agenda aims to strengthen communication between international and local forums in the field of design and enhance Dubai’s position on the global creative map, in addition to providing a unique opportunity for visitors to the week’s activities to transcend the boundaries of fashion and learn about the spirit of creativity, talent and design that pushes the wheel of progress forward in Dubai.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, said: “Dubai has achieved a great leap in the design sector, as it was able from a humble beginning and with a small group of galleries, designers and those interested in the sector to transform with pride. To a global hub for international designers - both emerging and established - as well as the most famous design studios from around the world. Today, the design sector has become a major contributor to translating the goals of the Dubai Vision 2021, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai - may God protect him, and a contributor to shaping the future of the emirate through all the experiences and achievements established by prestigious institutions and events such as the neighborhood Dubai Design, Dubai Design and Fashion Council, Dubai Design Week, Downtown Design and Design Days Dubai. In this context, the third edition of Dubai Design Week is at the heart of these initiatives, emphasizing the power of constructive change through the hands of young people through the “Global Alumni Exhibition”, as well as generating a fruitful dialogue between emerging designers in the region within the “Abwab” exhibition, while the exhibition “Abwab” presents Downtown Design’s original products meet the region’s growing demand for high-quality, contemporary designs, so I look forward to seeing what the design season has to offer this year.”
