December 31, 1898: The Egyptian singer “Umm Kulthum” (whose real name is Fatima Ibrahim El-Beltagy) was born in a village in Dakahlia Governorate and was educated by the village writers. In 1922, she moved to Cairo, where she began singing when she was young with her father on birthdays and weddings. Then Sheikh "Abu Al-Ala Muhammad" gave her a melody for the poem "Red for him if he preserved the passion." The public called it "Soma", and it was also nicknamed the planet of the East. It entered the Egyptian Radio upon its establishment in 1934, and in 1943 it established the first syndicate of musicians, and it retained its presidency for ten years. Al-Qasbagy was the second composer of Umm Kulthum, as he presented her with about 70 melodies, and also Riyad Al-Sunbati with 95 melodies, Sheikh Zakaria Ahmed with 57 melodies, and Muhammad Abdel-Wahhab 10 melodies. Umm Kulthum presented about 700 songs. Her first meeting with the poet Ahmed Ramy was in 1924, when he presented her with 136 songs he composed. Followed by the Tunisian Bayram, where he gave her 122 songs. When Egypt was defeated in 1967, it made concerts outside Egypt for the war effort. She also received many awards and honors. She died in 1975.
